Laura Lisbeth: Press
American Songwriter Magazine Laura Lisbeth's newest song, The Number, was just ... Laura Lisbeth's newest song, The Number, was just selected in American Songwriter Magazine's Sept/Oct 2008 Lyric contest as a 3rd place winner.
From the heartland she came, a neo-folkie that knows how to follow the contemporary folk tradition and will probably go a long way toward making people forget about her sisters of the 90’s. With an easy and smart way around an original song, Lizbeth delivers the pensive without the maudlin and the whining. Already proven by her peers to be an up and comer with some award notice under her belt, the future of the singer/songwriter genre, no matter how the gene mutates, is in good hands. I'm sitting here listening to the new CD released by Laura Lisbeth. Do yourself a favor (I MEAN this...) and get it. If you've ever heard Laura play, you already know she is a wonderfully gifted songwriter. But she's upped the ante by hooking up with Steve Phillips at Big Time Productions here in Kansas City and they've produced a CD that is stunning in its lush sound that perfectly captures the way these songs needed to be presented. Too many times this kind of music is either over or under-produced. Not on this CD - it is perfect song after song. This has become an instant heavy-rotation CD in my collection...
"After a late start due to weather concerns Laura Lisbeth took the stage and presented a sweet and senitmental set of her original music. Only the diminuative Laura and her big dreadnaught guitar rendering beautiful lyrical passages in her very strong, yet uniquely delicate voice. Captivating enough to help draw the sun from out of hiding."
