Hosting a House Concert

If you’re like me, you love listening to live music. But sometimes, I wish maybe I could hear a little better, or connect a little more with the artist. After all, music is all about connecting with a thought, a memory, a person, etc.   If you feel that way too, maybe you want to consider hosting a house concert.

What is a house concert? It's an invitation-only concert presented by a host who does not profit from the event. So it’s live music on a small, intimate scale, with a solo act or maybe 2 or 3 performers (usually held in the living room). The guests donate $10-20 per person to be paid to the performer. Some hosts like to provide food or snacks for the guests, or even a meal. In this case, the host may keep part of the fee to offset their costs. This can be worked out ahead of time with the artist. The great things is – a house concert can take on your own flair and you’ll be creating a unique experience for your guests.

I love house concerts, because it gives everyone a chance to absorb my songs, and I can share a little more about myself and how some of the songs were born. If you are curious about house concerts but you've no idea where to start, check out this website: concertsinyourhome.com. Here you will find tons of info on how to host a house concert.
